Based in one of Australia’s most iconic locations and taking in some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the country, the Snowies Half Marathon course is set to challenge Australia’s trail running fraternity with a course that promises to delight, challenge and inspire at every turn.
Starting at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa the course follows the beautiful Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) which undulates and climbs the spectacular Thredbo Valley alongside Thredbo River within Australia’s iconic Kosciuszko National Park.
The event starts at an altitude of 1260m and runners will be tested with 21ks of rugged mountain terrain, technical single track, some challenging ascens, and awe inspiring downhills.
Think this is a boring uphill slog? THINK AGAIN!
The Thredbo Valley Trail presents some of the best running trails found anywhere in Australia. Yes, you’ll be gaining height, but you’ll be doing it along deceptively undulating single track that twists and turns with flowing descents along the way.
And the Scenery!….
Runners ascend the Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) to the Ngarigo campsite on the Thredbo River, before the return journey back to the Bullocks Hut before tackling the river trail within beautiful Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa.

Among the many highlights of the trail are the numerous suspension bridges spanning the river, offering runners a brief reprieve from the trails, as well as spectacular views of the Thredbo River from above.
Runners will be afforded rewarding views of Porcupine Rocks exploding out of the rugged realms of the Ramshead Range, and discover a hidden gem in the Muzzelwood Wetlands.

SOME TIPS WHEN DRIVING
1. We drive on the left – quite important to remember this one
2. Try to avoid driving around dusk and dawn as these are the main times for our local wildlife, including some very big roos, to be out on the road and you don’t want to tangle with them, even in a vehicle.
3. Don’t underestimate distances. This is a big country and travelling between major towns and cities can be 100’s of kms (1 mile = 1.6km).
